West Des Moines Exercise Helps Cope with Pain and Aging

"If you don't keep going, you're gonna die." How’s that for a title to a paper?! Executive Chiropractic of Iowa was even startled a bit, but it is true. No matter your age, your pain, your life plan, we all have to keep moving forward! This is never more true for middle- to older-age West Des Moines back and neck pain sufferers. Fortunately, Executive Chiropractic of Iowa is here to help.

We all start looking for anti-aging benefits at a certain age! One set of researchers wrote that regular exercise has multi-system anti-aging effects and recommended more research to gain knowledge of just how molecular mediators of exercise benefits work in older folks rather than just turning to pharmaceuticals. (1) Executive Chiropractic of Iowa wholeheartedly agrees! Walking is amazing! This a terrific message for all West Des Moines pain sufferers!

Take a walking stroll each day with a goal of 7000 steps. Why? Research. 2,110 black and white men and women and their steps-per-day counts were investigated. They wore an accelerometer from 2005 to 2006 and then were followed for a mean of 10.8 years. Their stats were examined in 2020 and 2021 to see what, if any, association was made between steps-per-day and all-mortality death risk. This study was a portion of the larger CARDIA (Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults) study. Steps-taken-per-day were defined as “low” (less than 7000), “moderate” (7000-9999) and “high” (more than 10,000). Stepping intensity – stepping rate – played a role, too. Moderate/high step rate was associated with a reduced risk of mortality in black and white women and men in middle-age who took 7000 steps or more a day compared with those who took less. (2) Executive Chiropractic of Iowa sees how walking helps – 7000 steps or not – and urges West Des Moines chiropractic patients to take walks as best they can. Any walk will do!
