Kids, Teens, and Chiropractic: What Two 2026 Studies Found
When it comes to your child's health, you want care that is gentle, thoughtful, and built around their needs. Two recent studies released in September 2026 offer a closer look at why families take kids to the chiropractor and how parents describe the experience.
WHY FAMILIES TURN TO CHIROPRACTIC
Researchers in Australia and Canada reviewed visits from 605 young people, age 17 and younger, seen by 79 chiropractors. (1) Health maintenance was the top reason for coming in in each age group, suggesting that many parents think of chiropractic as part of keeping their kids active and healthy. Back problems were the most common issue chiropractors diagnosed, and teens accounted for nearly half of all visits. That makes sense: growing bodies, heavy backpacks, sports, and long hours at screens all place real demands on young spines.
PARENTS FEEL HEARD AND RESPECTED
Another study followed 671 parents before and after their child's course of chiropractic care. (2) Parents scored three parts of their experience: communication, shared decision-making, and the care and respect offered by the chiropractor and office staff. Overall, parents described favorable experiences across all three areas, and their satisfaction with care was positive. In other words, families felt listened to, included in decisions, and treated with kindness, which matters a great deal when the patient is your child.
